Hot off the heels of Mystic State’s badass Circles EP, we are delighted to announce a new signing to the Context Audio camp: Lavance.
Fresh out of Belgium, Lavance has been slowly but steadily making his mark on the D&B world for a while now, with a string of hard hitting releases on Skankandbass, Lifestyle Music and Portugal’s Counterpoint Recordings.
Normally pushing a relentlessly dark sound, he’s cooked up three gorgeous liquid tracks for us, including a collab with Leeds’ Colossus.
The collab kicks things off in perfect form.It’s a vibrant, kinetic liquid workout that hums along powered by some wicked vocals from the criminally underrated J:S. Resounding with wickedly engineered drum work alongside pianos to die for and some tasteful midrange growls, it’s uplifting and lively fun.
Out Of Sight, the EP’s namesake, switches things up a notch. Coming correct with a reserved, yet powerful motif, it’s all deep subs, paring off against some truly stunning ornamentation.
The EP closes things out with Retrospective, a liquid tune that really emphasises the “less is more” ethos. Built with Lavance’s signature attention to detail and, with a wonderfully solid mix on the drums, it has an evocative warmth and rolling depth that’s made it right at home on Context.
Introducing a new artist to the label is always exciting, and doubly so when they’ve delivered a release that’s everything we love about liquid D&B and a fine continuation of the Context Audio sound.
